An appraisal of the ground-water resources of the lower Susquehanna River basin (An interim report)

This report describes the availability, quantity, quality, variability, and cost of development of the ground-water resources in the lower Susquehanna River basin. The report has been prepared for and under specifications established by the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, and the Public Health Service, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. A comprehensive study of the water and related land resources of the Susquehanna River basin was authorized by the Congress of the United States in October 1961, and the task of preparing a report and of coordinating the work being done by others in support of the study was assigned to the Corps of Engineers. The comprehensive study is being conducted by several Federal departments and independent agencies in cooperation with the States of New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. The Public Health Service under its authority in the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (P. L. 660) initiated a comprehensive water quality control program for the Chesapeake drainage basin, which includes the Susquehanna River basin. This report is intended to serve the specific needs for ground-water information of both the Corps of Engineers and the Public Health Service, as well as those of the other participating Federal and State agencies.

Water resources data for the 1985 water year for Iowa consist of records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; stage, contents, and water quality of lakes and reservoirs; ground-water levels and ground-water quality. This report contains discharge records for 111 stream-gaging stations; stage and contents for 8 lakes and reservoirs; water quality for 8 stream-gaging stations; sediment records for 12 streamgaging stations; water levels for 94 observation wells; and chemical analyses for 214 observation wells. Also included are 118 crest-stage partial-record stations. Water resources of the Curlew Valley drainage basin, Utah and Idaho

This report about the water resources of the Curlew Valley drain- age basin, Utah and Idaho, was prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife Resources. The primary purpose of the study on which this re- port is based was to determine whether or not the flow of Locomotive Springs--a source of water for a State Waterfowl Management Area--has been or will be diminished as a result of ground-water withdrawals elsewhere in Curlew Valley. To this end, it was necessary to make a quantitative appraisal of the water resources of the Curlew Valley drainage basin, with emphasis on ground water, and to evaluate the effects of both present and planned water-supply developments on the hydrologic regimen.
