Annual Report upon the geographical explorations and surveys west of the one hundredth meridian, in California, Nevada, Nebraska, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Montana: Being Appendix LL of the Annual Report of the Chief of Engineers for 1875

I have the honor to submit the following report upon geographical surveys west of the one hundredth meridian for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1875. The States and Territories of California, Nevada, Nebraska, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Montana had been entered at the close of the season of 1874, during the several years' operations of the survey. Of the political divisions lying west of the one hundredth meridian, where actual field-work has not been done, are Oregon and the Territories of Washington and Idaho, and portions of Dakota, Kansas, and Texas.

Scale, 60 miles to the inch. Also contains four geologic and four topographic (shaded) maps, on scale of 4 miles to the inch, of the following areas: Sheet I. Longitude, 104° 30'-107° 37'; latitude, 40° 20'-41° 54'. Sheet II. Longitude, 107° 37'-110° 43'; latitude, 40° 16'-41° 50'. Sheet III. Longitude, 110° 43'-113° 50'; latitude, 40° 13'-41° 46'. Sheet IV. Longitude, 113° 50'-116° 56'; latitude, 39° 55'-41° 29'.

Seafloor images refine petroleum exploration models

Acoustic mapping of the EEZ sea floor using GLORIA side-scan sonar tool includes the margins of the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Johnston Island. This decade-long program was undertaken in cooperation with the United Kingdom's Institute of Oceanographic Sciences at the Deacon Laboratory (now the Southampton Oceanography Centre).

Exploration for mineral deposits in White County, Georgia

White County is in the Northeast Georgia Highland. It comprises 243 square miles and has abouit 7,000 Inhabitants. The county seat is Cleveland. Although the scene of considerable mining activity in the past, White County now has few operating mines: a small production of clay 1 for the manufacture of miscellaneous potter near Cleveland, and three sand-gravel operations 2 at Helen. Minerals are one of White County's three basic resources, and the one whose development has been most neglected. This special study has been undertaken to expand mineral production, increase employment and create new economic opportunities in White County and adjacent areas.
