Abstract

The Geographic Information Office, Information Technology Office (ITO), operating under the Chief Technology Officer, directs the management of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) information technology (IT) networks and systems supporting the telecommunications, computing, software applications management, and information technology security. The ITO supports IT activities across the nation and works closely with the Department of the Interior's (DOI), Office of the Chief Information Officer. Global Fiducials Library

Introduction The Earth changes continuously in response to natural processes and human activity. The collection and interpretation of time-series imagery enhances our ability to observe and monitor Earth’s dynamic processes as well as study and understand the rapidly changing surface of our planet. The Global Fiducials Library (GFL) provides repeated satellite imagery of selected locations around the world to help scientists observe, document, and better understand those changes over time.
