VII.—On Hindeastraea, a New Generic Form of Cretaceous Astraeidae

The little Coral here described was discovered in Kaufman County, Texas, in strata of the Kipley Group, by Dr. R. H. Loughridge, and presented by him to me, together with a few characteristic molluscan species of that group which he found associated with it. The Ripley Group is the uppermost division of the Cretaceous series in the States which border upon the Gulf of Mexico; and probably represents approximately the Upper Chalk of England. Regarding it as a new generic form I herewith give a diagnosis and figures of it; and being the only species known to me, the diagnosis is necessarily based upon this alone.

On the fresh-water invertebrates of the North American Jurassic

Important additions having lately been made to our knowledge of the fresh-water invertebrates of the North American Jurassic strata, I have thought it desirable to present not only descriptions and figures of the new forms in this bulletin, but to make the publication an illustrated synopsis of all the forms yet discovered. I therefore reproduce on the accompanying plates figures of all the species hitherto published, in addition to those of the new forms. Besides this, I offer the following general discussion of the subject of those fresh-water fossils and theft bearing upon continental history.

Report upon United States geological surveys west of the one hundredth meridian, Volume IV: Paleontology

I [G.M. Wheeler] have the honor to submit herewith a report, in two parts, upon the paleontological results arising from the collections and examinations made during the years 1871, 1872, 1873, 1874, and 1875, in connection with geographical explorations and surveys west of the one hundredth meridian, for publication as Volume IV of the reports authorized by acts of Congress approved June 23, 1874, and February 15, 1875.
